Julie Mautner is a free-lance travel and food editor just as much at home in Provence as she is in her adoptive New York and native Wisconsin.
Founding Editor at Food Arts and managing editor for twenty years, 1988-2008, Julie frequently has to remind herself that she doesn’t have to be at work on Monday mornings. “Its like waiting for someone to call to say the good times are over and it’s time to get back to work.”
As free-lance editor for Food Arts, Julie publishes articles on various subjects, from international hotel reviews to restaurant, food and cruise reviews. She is widely published and appears in such publications as Travel & Leisure, Bon Appetit, Conde Nast Traveller (U.K.), Wine Spectator, Gourmet and Food & Wine.
Julie has worked on a range of marketing and communications projects including press releases for the hospitality industry as well as copy development for cruise operators like Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, Holland America Lines and American Express. Her latest project is a collection of fine dining recipes inspired by the South Beach wine & Food Festival in Miami, contracted by Random House for publication in 2010.
Among friends, the betting favors Julie’s living-in-Provence blog, provencepost.com, which local observers believe will be purchased by a major international publishing group for an outrageous amount of money once discovered. Until then, Julie continues to share with friends and a devoted readership, the pleasures of life in Provence.
